Club Meeting February 7th, Featuring Speaker Rob Moore

  • MCL Restaurant and Bakery (5240 E Main St) (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join us for lunch as we hear from Rob Moore, principal at Scioto Analysis. Rob will speak to us about the demographics of new Americans in Central Ohio. Visit the company website at: https://www.sciotoanalysis.com/

A little bit about Rob:

I believe that decision makers need to have the best data at their fingertips when they are faced with hard choices. I started Scioto Analysis because I have seen the thirst state and local-level decision makers have to understand the numbers behind the decisions they make every day. I apply a toolkit of microeconomic, applied statistical, and policy analytic frameworks to the most pressing issues of the day, including economic growth, poverty and inequality alleviation, education, health, and subjective well-being.

Club Meeting March 7th, Featuring Speaker Dr. Douglas Scharre

Join us for lunch as we hear from Dr. Douglas Scharre, Director, Division of Cognitive Neurology, at The Ohio University Wexner Medical Center.

A little bit about Dr. Scharre:

I’ve always loved puzzles and figuring out how things work. It’s what led me to study science—first physics and then medicine. There’s no bigger puzzle we’re still trying to piece together than the mysteries of the brain.

Doing clinical research in an academic setting at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center offers the best of both worlds for me. I can work on advancing big questions and making new discoveries in my field. But I can also make sure new information gets back to patients quickly—because early diagnosis is so critical for memory disorders like dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Rotary Youth Exchange Session One

Become a Host Family

Hosting a foreign exchange student offers the entire family insights into intercultural interactions and demonstrates how different yet similar we all are. Lifelong friendships between families are often formed through the host family experience.

What is the Rotary Youth Exchange?

Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) is an international student exchange program for students in secondary school. Students can choose either to spend a year abroad attending school and staying with host families; or participate in a family-family exchange during the summer break.

How Do I Learn More?

Visit the Rotary Website @ www.studyabroadscholarships.org. Information is available about short term and long term exchange opportunities.
